A common Chinese condiment, chilli bean sauce (also called doubanjiang or Toban Djan) is made with fermented broad beans, chilli peppers, and a variety of seasonings. The well-known company Lee Kum Kee manufactures excellent Asian sauces and condiments, such as chilli bean sauce. Toban Djan, also known as Lee Kum Kee’s Chilli Bean Sauce, is a savoury and hot sauce that enhances the flavour and heat of many Chinese and Asian dishes. The fermentation process yields a rich and flavorful sauce when broad beans and chilli peppers are combined.
